BACK University of Arkansas Union South TerraceCompleted 20134,000 sfClient: University of Arkansas The remodel of the existing South Terrace at the Arkansas Union included a fireplace, covered seating area, computer recharging stations, and lighting. LED lighting, concealed in custom details, provides highlights and allows the space to be used after dark. An exterior fireplace was placed, as requested by the owner, to provide a focal point and a secondary gathering area. Counter height seating with outlets for computer recharging A canopy structure was added to extend the seating area of recently remodeled indoor dining spaces. Lighting and accessible electrical outlets at table height were concealed in the canopy columns. Architectural screens, made of Ipe wood and painted steel, were designed to provide protection, as well as a structure to support a "living screen" of native plantings that beautify and soften the space. Built-in planters are filled with species native to Northwest Arkansas. Previous Next
